Economics and Agriculture: Solutions

In order to counteract the effects of unsustainable agriculture, the economy needs to focus on resource management and methods that increase productivity without damaging the environment. One of the most effective ways to manage sustainable agriculture is by using conservation agriculture or community-supported agriculture. Governments have begun to provide monetary incentives to farmers so that they switch their farming methods; these government regulations are required to ensure that the economy can run properly while maintaining a sustainable amount of resources.
Conservation agriculture is simply farming using methods such as no-till farming, terracing, crop rotation, and other methods to restore nutrients to the soil and increase productivity. Community-supported agriculture is an effective method of resource conservation because members of the community pre-purchase produce from local farmers so that farmers are ensured that they will receive payment for their services. Community-supported agriculture promotes sustainable agriculture since local farmers are the ones providing the goods and services, and buying from the community supports local economies.
